What We Believe E-mail

1. About God

God is the Creator and Ruler of the universe. He has eternally existed in three personalities: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. These three are co-equal and are one God.

2. About Jesus Christ

Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He is the second person of the Trinity. Jesus lived a sinless human life and offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all people by dying on a cross. He arose from the dead after three days to demonstrate His power over sin and death. He ascended to Heaven’s glory and will return again someday to earth to reign as King of Kings, and Lord of Lords.

3. About The Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit is the third Person of the Trinity who exercises the power of the Father and the Son in Creation and redemption. The Holy Spirit appears in the Gospel of John as the power by which Christians are brought to faith and helped to understand their walk with God. The Holy Spirit is the Helper who Jesus promised to the disciples after His ascension. The Trinity of Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are unified in ministering to the believer. The purpose of the Holy Spirit is:

  1. For A Comforter John 14:16-17: “And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor, to be with you forever- the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you.”
  2. For A Teacher – John 14:26 – “But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.”
  3. For Power To Be A Witness – Acts 1:8, “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

Baptism of the Holy Spirit

The Baptism was promised in Acts by the Lord Jesus Christ himself:

That once receiving the Holy Spirit, you will have one or more of the spiritural gifts listed in the New Testement.

Acts 1:5, 8: 5 “For John truly baptized with water; but in a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.” 8 “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.

Acts 2:1-4: 1 When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. 2 Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. 3 They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. 4 All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them.

4. About The Bible

The Bible is God’s Word to us. It was written by human authors, under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit. It is the supreme source of truth for Christian beliefs and living. Because it is inspired by God, it is the truth without any mixture of error.

5. About Human Beings

People are made in the spiritual image of God, to be like Him in character. People are the supreme object of God’s creation. Although every person has tremendous potential for good, all of us are marred by an attitude of disobedience toward God called “sin”. This attitude separates people from God and causes many problems in life. If a person does not accept the sacrificial death of Jesus on the cross as payment for the penalty of his or her sins, that person will spend eternity in hell where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

6. About Salvation

Salvation is God’s free gift to us but we must accept it. We can never make up for our sin by self-improvement or good works. Only by trusting in Jesus Christ as God’s offer of forgiveness can anyone be saved from sin’s penalty. When we turn from our self-ruled life and turn to Jesus in faith we are saved. Eternal life begins the moment one receives Jesus Christ into his life by faith.

7. About Eternal Security

Because God gives us eternal life through Jesus Christ, the true believer is secure in that salvation for eternity. Salvation is maintained by the grace and power of God, not by the self-effort of the Christian. It is the grace and keeping power of God that gives us this security.

8. About Eternity

Every person is going to live forever. We will either live eternally separated from God by sin, or eternally with God through forgiveness and salvation. Those who are separated from God by sin will live in hell for all eternity. Those who have received eternal life and forgiveness through faith in the substitutionary death of Jesus will live with God forever in Heaven. Heaven and hell are real places of eternal existence.
